Autumn Jungle Finished

OK, so I guess you all are not so fond of bold, bright colors and a little craziness?  Or did I say something to offend you?   The response to my last post was totally underwhelming, LOL!  C’mon my friends, if you don`t care for it, that’s understandable - you can say that!  Just say SOMETHING!  I like to know I am not talking to myself.  At least, not online.   Around the house in the middle of the day doesn’t count...   :-)

Seriously, everyone has different tastes.  And in round robins, we take the challenges that come our way and s-t-r-e-t-c-h.    Sometimes a block is very traditional, and basic embroidery and the usual treatments just roll off the needle.  Other times, you (or at least I) have to dig down deep in your bag o’ tricks.   I happened to love the colors of this block.  The busy-ness was a challenge.  Hopefully I created a more sedate background on which to tell a little story of a sun shining on all sorts of silly fantasy flowers in the Autumn Jungle.  It is, at least, cohesive and color balanced.  It’s also bold and likely to bring on a migraine wacky.  For better or worse, here’s the finished block.

I had originally planned more stuff along the vine, but just decided to cool it and leave the center a bit open.  BTW, don’t you love those curly red beads (there are three on the block)?  I can’t remember where I got them, but they have such potential!

  1. As the owner of this and the otehr 5 blocks in this RR I am absolutely THRILLED. I will be sure to print out these posts and add them to my book of learning. As I am new to CQing I wasn't really aware of the plain fabric with no prints but when looking for Autumn colours in fabric I just fell in love with these... in fact all these prints would in wide band stripes in ONE fabric so I actally only used like 1/4 yd to make all 6 blocks. I can't tell you home much I LOVE this block and as purple is my FAVOURITE colour I love that it's been added in too. I hope that the rest in this RR read this about the purple and keep it going thru the rest of the blocks. Thanks soo much for all your work!

  2. What a difference a day makes! Actually I was fascinated reading the previous post where you analyzed your moves, and I was waiting for the results! It turned out lush, bright and full of fun. I love those neat beaded paisley flowers.

  3. Gosh, I feel sorry I didn't comment! I saw that post in my blog roll while I was at work and didn't get back to see it until this AM.

I don't do much crazy quilt because I am relatively new to it. I don't know what's good or not good except if its pretty to look at. This peice is colorful so that's cool.

  4. I love it. This is REALLY crazy quilting. You've inspired me to use some much brighter fabrics in my next project. I do read your blog every day, but rarely comment. I always think loads of other people will. I shall make my presence known in future. lol

  5. I'll talk to you then!
I like it. I'm all for "more is more" and bright colours are great for dull winter days.

  6. This block is totally fun and definitely a modern take on CQ. I wasn't sure on it at first, but now I see it finished, I love it. Now I won't be afraid to use more fun fabrics because I know they work!

  7. Ok, I'm one of those that reads but rarely comments. Sorry. I did read previous post and appreciated you posting the thought process that went into the block especially since I am sometimes one of those busy block persons!

    Thanks, again.

I have a blog too where there is rarely a comment but figured if no one posts I will just turn it into a book (for myself) and stick it on a shelf with some other stuff my kids/husband may or may not read when I'm gone. They don't know about my blog and I wish my gma would have left something like a blog for me journaling her projects/daily life.

    (How's that for a comment???)

Oh, and I love what you did on the block.
